On November 4th, Dr. Goodall gave a lecture, "Roots & Shoots in the Caribbean: Building a Better Puerto Rico," at the University of Puerto Rico. Dr. Goodall discuss the Jane Goodall Institute's Roots & Shoots program and its benefits to the environment, individuals and communities in Puerto Rico. Dame Jane Goodall, DBE (born Valerie Jane Morris Goodall on 3 April 1934) is an English UN Messenger of Peace, primatologist, ethologist, and anthropologist. She is well-known for her 45-year study of chimpanzee social and family interactions in Gombe Stream National Park, Tanzania, and for founding the Jane Goodall Institute.
